Let's try something different this week, something where I hope people will reply with their own stories.
The other day I was talking to my wife and she said something that reminded me of an 80;s song I had not thought if in forever that my entire life I thought was called "don't mess with my tutu". I could not remember who sang it, had not hear it in 30+ years, but I remembered (and sang off-key to my wife), that the chorus went, "don't mess with my tutu, I know you got another woman, so don't mess with my tutu".
She did not know this song and wondered if I had made it up.
So I searched the internet... how nice it is to be able to do that, if this had happened in the 80's/90's I probably never would have found the song.... and I came across a Zydeco song from Rockin' Sidney, "don't mess with my toot-toot" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yqf10CmdiD0), and that was the song, but not the version I knew.
In 1985 Rockin' Sidney, who wrote the song, released it, and it hit #19 on the US Hot Country Singles (Billboard) chart.
Later that same year Jean Knight (best known for her #1 hit, "Mr. Big Stuff"), recorded her version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqzJ_pqNRJc), the one I remembered, and it hit #50 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
Not only did I find the long forgotten song I was looking for, but I found an original, an excellent Zydeco song.
So, are there any songs you remember that seem to have been forgotten to time, or a song that you love that month/years later you found out was a cover? I'd love to hear your stories.

Planning continues or this year's Banding Together benefit webathon for the Spondylitis Association Of America, to air on BlowUpRadio.com October 18th-20th.
I am thrilled to announce we have 50 acts involved so far, either performing, donating a previously unreleased song, or both.
Even with so many acts involved, there is still room for more.
So if you are a musician and interested, there are 2 ways to be involved:
1. Looking for musicians to pre-record a 30 minute live audio performance exclusively for broadcast during the benefit. The performance should be predominantly original songs (1-2 covers is okay).
2. We are also looking for previously unreleased original songs (which can include acoustic or live versions of previously released songs, remixes, etc.) for this year's compilation. I ask that all songs be original (no covers) and that they remain exclusive to the compilation until January 1st, 2025.
