Lazlo's Corner

THANK YOU!

When I decided to continue our annual Banding Together Webathon for the Spondylitis Association Of America this year, I knew it was going to be very different than previous years. With the pandemic, everyone would be performing remotely via video conference, which we knew worked from our Stay The F*** Home Fest, but comes with its share of issues.

Then there were the other questions... Would musicians want to perform remotely? Would musicians have music to donate to the compilation? Would people want to listen to a webathon right now? And would people be in a position to donate to the Spondylitis Association of America, during a challenging year like this?

The answers to all those questions were an enthusiastic YES!

So again I say, Thank You!

~

And... we're going to do another benefit webathon on New Year's Eve for a musician in need.

"2020 Gets Canceled! BlowUpRadio.com's New Year's Eve Extravaganza a benefit for musician Catherine Wacha"

The broadcast will also be a benefit for musician Catherine Wacha (along with a compilation), who is going through a tough time as she describes below.

There are 2 things we are looking for

1. performers who would like to perform via Skype on New Year's Eve

2. Songs for the compilation. Previously unreleased is highly preferable, but we do not want to turn away anyone who wants to donate an original song to the compilation.

If interested in either (or both), please let me know

Thank you!

A MESSAGE FROM CATHERINE WACHA
After battling Lupus and Chronic Kidney disease resulting in End Stage Renal failure, I was lucky enough to receive a much needed kidney transplant at the beginning of September. This was a wonderful gift that came at a less than ideal time. Due to being extremely high risk I had to take a leave from my job to stay safe from Covid-19. I was on unemployment until I had my surgery and am currently awaiting a ruling on my Social Security Disability Insurance eligibility and have no income. My wife and I have enough saving to get us through a few months but without my salary we are unable to afford out monthly expenses and my care beyond that.

Going back to my office at the height of cold and flu season with the added risk of Covid-19 is very dangerous for me. The post transplant medications heavily suppress my immune system so if I am exposed to Covid-19 I will almost certainly lose the newly transplanted kidney if I don't also lose my life.

In The last week I learned of the death of Christopher "Kriz" Oehme, who fronted the local band Wellbaby, and for many years worked the doors at The Saint in Asbury Park. It had been several years since I had last seen Kriz, but he was truly among the kindest, friendliest people I've met in the nearly 20 years I have been doing BlowUpRadio.com.

Here is an obituary with more info on Kriz: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/app/obituary.aspx?n=christopher-oehme&pid=196960899&fhid=17143
