Lazlo's Corner

I just watched the movie Parasite. You have probably heard about this new South Korean film, because of the amazing reviews it is getting and buzz this award season.

Getting buzz is important, regardless of whether you are a movie, a band, or a niche internet station.

Buzz doesn't have to come from reviews and awards, in fact I personally don't hold them in as high a regard as word of mouth from friends.

When a friend tells me to check out something, and speaks excitedly why I should check it out, that gets me excited to want to check out what they are talking about. It was word of mouth that got me excited to see Parasite.

Word of mouth is also why I get so energized each week doing the two new music shows I host. Every week I listen to countless hours of new music, and pick my favorites to play on BlowUpRadio.com Presents New NJ Music and Lazlo's Den Presents New Music. These are the songs that excite me, and hopefully will excite you too.

My hope is that each time you tune in you discover some music you might have heard before but now you want to want hear more from them. Sometimes I hear from listeners telling me that, or something very similar, and it makes me happy to know that my joy of an artist has led to someone else's joy of that artist.

But it makes me even happier when someone tells me they told other about the artist and that now their friends have become fans of the artist also. Spreading the word about music (or anything) you love is to me the best way to tell an artist you appreciate them (purchasing their music, instead of just streaming it, comes in a close second). If you can help increase an artist's fanbase by spreading the word, it becomes a 'win-win-win'. The artist builds their fanbase, and as a result will hopefully be able to play out more, and make more music, and the you and your friends reap the benefits of that by getting to see the artist more and hear more new music.

If BlowUpRadio.com leaves any legacy behind I hope it has nothing to do with me, or what BlowupRadio.com did, I hope it is just the music and the amazing musicians whose fanbase we try to build by showcasing our love of their music.

And in case you are wondering, Parasite is as amazing a film as everyone is saying. I highly recommend it.
