Lazlo (BlowUpRadio.com)

Two picks this week.

Wednesday an eclectically interesting line-up hits the Saint in Asbury Park, with Colie Brice & The New Age Blues Experience, Ken Shane, and Mike Black.

Saturday at the Goldhawk in Hoboken, 3/4s of the original Souls' Release line-up share a bill, with Joshua Van Ness, Jonathan Andrew, and Alter Ego (w/ Nick Ferriero).

And while I'm mentioning that show, Joshua, Jonathan, and Nick, will also be part of the first BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull on Sunday April 19th.

Jim Testa (Jersey Beat)

Thursday, April 2
THE LEFTOVERS, Deadly Bored Games, Nato Coles - The Charleston Bar, 156 Bedford Ave. Williamsburg - 9 pm, $6, 21+

Deadly Bored Games is a new group fronted by Dan Paquin, formerly of Jersey City's pioneering pop punk group Dirt Bike Annie. Gary Wien (Asbury Music)

Two picks for the week this time around. On Friday, Espresso Joe's in Keyport has a great show featuring Jon Caspi and Bill Toms (from Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers band). Then on Saturday night, Kimon and the Roadside Prophets will hold their CD release party at the Saint in Asbury Park. The bill also includes Mean Venus and Midnite Social from Boston.

And now for this week’s Pissed Off!

You would think after last week’s Pissed Off (which I forwarded on to Live Nation and U2’s PR people), that they would realize Giants Stadium is in New Jersey.

Here are some excerpts from a press release I received today:

“U2 360° TOUR...NEW YORK...INSTANTANEOUS SELL-OUTS”

“With sales this morning of over 82,000 tickets sold in New York…”

“In New York at Giants Stadium Muse will be the special guest...”

I am so tempted to give out the Live Nation & U2 PR people’s contact info so you can all voice your displeasure about this diss on the Garden State, but I’m professional and won’t.

Besides, I have something else eating at me this week…

There's a lot of things in the news and the area that have been pissing me off lately. If you're a regular listener of Lazlo's Den, then you've likely heard me talk about many of the things pissing me off, because I do enjoy doing short rants on the show.

I keep coming back to one particular thing that's really pissing me off though.

I don't understand how Republicans can consider themselves Americans when they say that they want our president to fail.

Now I have no problem with anyone complaining about the president's policies, heck, I championed Obama during the primaries and elections and I don't agree with him on everything.

I think it's wrong that the president wants to put a policy in place that if our soldiers are injured during active duty, and they have private health insurance, they have to use their private health insurance instead of the Veterans health insurance.

Excuse me? I don't agree with war in the first place, BUT, if one of our soldiers loses a leg or gets injured in any way, he/she shouldn't then be forced to pay a co-pay to get fixed up. That's crazy.

So again, I have no problem with anyone complaining about the president's policies, something Republicans were against under our previous president's rule.

How many times did we here that you don't protest a sitting president or say anything negative about a sitting president because it emboldens our enemies?

Gee, protesting and saying something negative about the president is bad, but saying you hope he fails, that's not?!?!?

I'm sorry, but if you are saying that you want our president to fail, you are Un-American, and you should leave now.

I hated our previous president, I think he did a lousy job, and I was very vocal about the mistakes that he made, BUT, I never wanted him to fail. I wanted him to do a better job. I pointed out mistakes he made, and proactively tried to stop other things I felt was wrong (I was against the Iraq war BEFORE it started), but I never, EVER wanted him to fail. I love America, and while I don't agree with our previous president, I am sure he loves the country also.

Saying you want our president to fail is not loving your country. If you hate the president that much that you want him to fail, then really you have to ask yourself why you continue to live here. I asked myself why I continued to live in America under or previous president's rule, and the answer was that while I disagreed with what he was doing, I still love this country for so many other reasons. I wanted us to be the great country I know we are. If I ever seriously for a minute thought, "I want our president to fail", that would have been the moment I packed my bags and left the country.

I remember Republicans calling for people to be sent to Guantanemo that didn't agree with our previous president, saying that's Un-American. How can these same people say they want our president to fail?

So go ahead, disagree with our president's policies, intelligent debate is a good thing, but don't say ridiculously stupid things like I hope our president fails.

That's all for this week folks.

Peace,
Lazlo
