Supporting New Jersey's Local Music Scene Since 2000

Album of the Month
The Milwaukees - "American Anthem Vol. 1"

With, "American Anthems vol. 1", The Milwaukees have crafted an album that to me is really a perfect interweaving of two different albums. The first two songs on the CD are fist pumping, air guitar playing, sing along, rock songs. then the album takes a sharp turn, without being jarring to the listener, into a more Roots Rock/Americana/Alt-Country ballad for the next two tracks. As strong as their rock songs are, and they really are fun, the real emotional connection for the album comes through in these powerful, soulful ballads. The album continues to perfectly ping pong between rock songs and Americana ballads, leaving me wanting more when the nearly 41 minute run time of the CD ended.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

The big 2 day Spondalytis Association of America benefit concert is getting closer. I hope you can all make it out for this big show on Sept. 28th & 29th. We have over 20 acts playing over the course of 2 days, and we have tons of CDs, t-shirts, DVDs, and other goodies that we'll be raffling off, including an autographed CD from The John Popper Project featuring DJ Logic, and and autogrpahed copy of They Might Be Giant's DVD/CD "venue songs". I'll have a complete list of items to be raffled off in next week's newsletter, which will include another very special item.

~~~~~~~~~~
Last Friday the Winter Sounds called into Lazlo's Den. If you missed it, the interview, along with plenty of others, is up in the interview archive at LazlosDen.com for you to stream.
Tonight (Monday) Sacha Sacket will be calling into Lazlo's Den, and tomorrow (Tuesday) I'll be chatting with George Stanford (formerly of Townhall).
Also keep your eyes on LazlosDen.com for some other cool interview announcements later this week.
This week on the BlowUpRadio.com Podcast we've got brand new music from Citizens Band Radio's forthcoming CD, as well as tunes from Michelle Vecchione, Joshua Van Ness, Dipsomaniacs, Kerry, Ya-Ne-Zniyoo, The Commons, Jonathan Andrew, and Nerve Tonic.
Concert Picks of the Week
Lazlo (BlowUpRadio.com)
Tuesday one of the Jersey Shore's best kept secrets in terms of singer-songwriters, Bobby Strange, comes to the Saint for a rare performance.
Jim Testa (Jersey Beat)
Friday Sept. 21
FOR SCIENCE, The Ergs!, Hunchback - Yoga Vayu, 354 George St. (2nd Floor) New Brunswick - 10 pm, $5, all ages
For Science releases its new CD "Tomorrow's Just Another Day" at this show. The New Brunswick band plays noisy pop-punk with a lot of energy and chaos. Also on the bill will be NJ's pop-punk maestros The Ergs! and the New Brunswick noise-punk combo Hunchback; sparks usually fly when these two bands share a bill. Yoga Vayu is an intimate new all-ages venue that has the sweaty ambience of a punk-rock basement show, so this should be a fun night.
Concert Picks of the Week
Gary Wien (Upstage)
This week's pick is Jersey's own George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic on Friday at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville.
Jared Migden (WRSU)
