Hello! So, to answer a question I have been inundated with this week, here is what I know about Hooligan's. The club has been closed for over a week now, originally citing "electrical problems", now there are many saying the club will never reopen. The only other thing I know, is that many of the shows planned for Hooligan's, have been moved to Cafe Bar (a mere 6 blocks from Hooligan's). Keep an eye on our News page, as I will update it if I hear anything more on the fate of one of the Shore's great venues.
And when you go to blowupradio.com, you are likely to notice some new things. Many of the pages have been redesigned, hopefully for the better, and I proudly introduce the addition of blowupradio.com's MP3 pages. A work in progress, the MP3 pages will be home to links to where you can download music from your favorite NJ bands. As it is a work in progress, if you know of a link to a NJ band's MP3s and you don't see it on the list, feel free to e-mail it to me @ lazlo@blowupradio.com.
On the new music front, I have done something never before done in the almost 1 year history of blowupradio.com. I received the new CD from former Awake Asleep frontman, Val Emmich, and it is truly an album in the sense of all the songs should be heard in order together for the work to be fully understood. So that's what I am doing this week, is playing the entire CD during the webcast. Val's new CD, released by Childlike Records in association with Artist Amplification, is called "the fifteen minute relationship". The album, which runs just over fifteen minutes in length, tells the tragic tale of a relationship that starts off hopeful, but due to feelings of frustration and anger, is doomed to failure. It is obvious that the songs came from a personal relationship Val went through. Sadly it is not an uncommon relationship, and one which I am sure many of us can relate to in various ways. If you like what you hear, check out the official CD release party for Val Emmich's "fifteen minute relationship", this Friday at Maxwells.
