1. MESSAGE FROM LAZLO

Hello! Another week comes to a close. As usual for me of late, it's been a long one, but there is some light at the end of the tunnel. blowupradio.com's anniversary bash is definitely going to happen. The line-up is still in the planning stages, and while the show will most likely be benefiting Toys for Tots or Big Brothers/Big Sisters, that has yet to be finalized. What is finalized right now is the show will happen on the exact 1 year anniversary of blowupradio.com, Saturday, December 15th, and it will be held at the Broadway Central Cafe in South Amboy. Big thanks to Chris Barry and the World Beyond Network for their help in making this show possible. I'll keep you all informed with more information as it develops.

Speaking of the Broadway Central Cafe, it was the location for a big 2 day benefit show for Red Cross, which the afore mentioned World Beyond Network put together along with Flat Morrison. I was there for the first night of the event and saw wonderful performances by such bands as:

Logs in the Mainstream, whose song, "euphamism for god", has a whole lot more importance then it did a couple of months ago.
Nick Ciavatta of Sea of Otters, who was not the only artist to do an excellent solo acoustic performance. Chris Vincent, also performed solo acoustic blues numbers, that harkened back to an old school delta blues sound.
Vigilante Cowboys put on a rocking set for all the cowpokes, which including a rollicking cover of Jefferson Airplane's "volunteers".
The night also marked the return of Mojo Love Dog, who had broken up early in the summer, but realized they enjoyed playing together too much to stay apart. Their set had the whole joint rocking, and I suspect they will be performing together for a long time to come. After finishing their set, I heard them saying how they wanted to play more. These guys came to play, and the 3 song set the bands were allowed just wasn't enough. Look for them playing more shows real soon.
There was old school punk from the Graveyard School, and a first time performance from the Swingin' Zeros.
The biggest attractions of the night came in the form of Flat Morrison and the Catholic Girls, both of whom put on high energy rock sets that made the intimate Broadway Central Cafe seem like a large rock venue.

But let's not forget that besides seeing a lot of really cool bands, the night was about raising money for the Red Cross. It's nice when you can see a lot of bands on the same bill and help a good cause at the same time.
