1. MESSAGE FROM LAZLO

We're back folks! My computer is (finally) operational again, and everything on blowupradio.com, including the webcast, has been updated. Now I can also start unveiling some new things. As you can see above, blowupradio.com will soon be adding a LITERATURE CORNER. Songwriters, Poets and anyone who can write (who is from the Garden State) can feel free to E-mail me stuff for the page. I will be putting some of my own poetry and short stories up also. Again, E-mail submissions to lazlo@blowupradio.com.

This week I also had the opportunity to do the first (of hopefully many) shows Co-sponsored by Artist Amplification and blowupradio.com. Thanks to everyone who came out for what was a wonderful night of Jersey live music. Big thanks to Andy Gessner of Artist Amplification for inviting me to co-sponsor this show. Andy is a great guy, and cares about the New Jersey music scene as much (if not more so) then I do. Big thanks to both bands also for putting on amazing performances. First was Dave Murphy and his band the Hamilton Electric, who blew me away with a live performance that captures all the emotion of the songs on the album and then some. The Hamilton Electric is a fine band for Dave to work with adding deeper complexities to the music. I could go on saying things about this wonderful performance, but best you go check out one of Dave Murphy's many upcomoing gigs (see blowupradio.com's concertlist to find out where). Then the Crayons(whose new website is now up and running at www.thecrayons.net) came on. Now for those who do not know, the Crayons are an acoustic guitar duo, but live the show is so alive that it's hard to believe it's just two guys up there (note: they are looking for a drummer, so if you are one, contact them). Again, describing the show too much would take away from the spectacle you can go witness for yourselves. SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC! Overall, I think the highlight of the night was seeing how cool both bands were to just hang out with and talk. I really think we can build a large friendly community of music & musicians here in New Jersey. Which brings me to one final thought...

The Asbury Music Awards nominees came out this week, and I want to wish a hearty congratulations to everyone who was nominated. Sadly, blowupradio.com was not nominated for Best Radio Station, but there is always next year. There is a chance I will be presenting an award at the show (which is August 8th at the Stone Pony). Anyway, here is my only problem with awards in general. Is it right to say one band is better than another? Everyone has their own taste, and it's all subjective. Is it really bringing the scene together at an event like this, or splintering it more apart? I'm not against award shows, afterall it is nice to be honored, just wondering what others think? Feel free to E-mail me your thoughts if you like.
